Abstract

Performar Debates gather Laboratório de Crítica, its researchers and outreach participants’ texts, and also texts of other invited authors who debate the critical exercise of the arts, specially of dance and performance, and their interfaces with dramaturgy, curatorship and theoretical formation. The work is divided in three sections: the Opening, with a presentation written by Flavia Meireles and a preface by Sérgio Andrade; Part I – Interlocutions, with an essay written by Ligia Tourinho discussing the crossings among criticism, dramaturgy and historicity – and a text-debate of the Grupo de Pesquisa LabCrítica with Luiz Camillo Osorio, thinking the limits among criticism, curatorship, fetichism and market, dance, performance and visual arts; and Part II – Critical Texts to Festival Panorama (2012-2016), which assembles a collection of more than fifty critical texts, from thirty-four authors, written throughout five years of LabCrítica immersions at Festival Panorama – one of the biggest contemporary dance and performance international festivals happening in Latin America, now completing 25 years of existence. The collection is presented by Nayse López, the curator of the festival. The work creates, therefore, new foldings in the writing of the critical memory of the international contemporary scene circulating in Rio de Janeiro, trespassing the walls of the academic spaces and artistic circuits.

The book is now being printed. It will be launched in the event Trans-In-Corporados, in November 2017. Wait for it!
